Last month Yahoo! asked me to direct a prank video for their new Start Wearing Purple site. We created a seemingly spontaneous sing-a-long in a Manhattan elevator. As the elevator went down from the 6th floor, a new performer got on at each stop and started singing the same song. We decked out the elevator with hidden cameras and got some great reactions from unsuspecting riders. You can see videos of the other marks as well as behind-the-scenes footage on the Yahoo! site.

This is a little mean-spirited for our tastes, but it’s pretty damn funny to watch. Pranksters install a train horn in their car and scare the hell out of pedestrians.

Today’s Wall Street Journal has a nice article about Improv Everywhere and many of the groups covered on this blog. Check it out:
This looks to be from a Japanese television show. A magician dresses up as a old man and then pranks folks on a subway and at an amusement park with his limber body.
(Thanks to Sam for sending this in.)

This is either an awesome hack, or a very clever marketing campaign on the part of Dreamworks.

The Wall Street Journal put together this profile of SFZero.
SFZero is a Collaborative Production Game. Players build characters by completing tasks for their groups and increasing their Score. The goals of play include meeting new people, exploring the city, and participating in non-consumer leisure activities.
Cool project and a nice video, but we’re not sure why the WSJ scored the video with such annoying music.
This looks like it’s from a European prank show.
