Street Artist Posterchild has been adding his “Seating Caps” to pipes around Chinatown in Toronto. He explains:
These pipes- as pokey, uncomfortable, and rough as they are- have long ago been reimagined as benches, repurposed as public seating on a street that has none.
I just made them more comfy!
I call it a “Seating Cap”!

Posterchild is based in Toronto, ON, Canada. This is being done on Dundas St. in Toronto, ON, Canada not in New York.
Thanks Alex. I corrected the post.
No problem! Posterchild does some really great projects here.
this is something great that could be done almost anywhere….maybe we could do this like a sort of seat(ing) day???
That’s a riser for a natural gas service, and it looks like it’s active. You shouldn’t put any extra stress on it, unless you like the idea of causing a fracture and leaking flammable gas into the atmosphere.
