Improv in Toronto, a group formed on the Urban Prankster Network, just posted their latest mission, Finish Line Marathon.

They write:

For our most recent mission, 20 agents met up downtown with one huge finish line, Canadian flags, a cowbell, and a load of team spirit! We then set it up in front of random strangers to see how they would react! Would they stop and stare? Or just try to ignore us? Or maybe even if we’re lucky, sprint to the finish!?

Street With a View is a project by Robin Hewlett and Ben Kinsley where they staged elaborately awesome scenes for the Google Street View cameras. The tiny one-way street Sampsonia Way was transformed into a place alive with energy, complete with marathon, marching band, and a 17th century sword fight. The results were captured by the Street View team (who worked with the artists to coordinate the shoot.) Explore the street for yourself:

The Strand Race

Last weekend, GuerilLA held an impromptu Finish Line on The Strand in Manhattan Beach, CA.

The race was complete with a Finish Line sign, finish line tape, water tables, supportive signs, journalists, photographers, videographers, and a large cheering group of people spread along a quarter mile of The Strand. Runners and cyclists had no idea that they were actually near the end of a marathon, until the last second!

Mall Marathon

Michigan Improv recently created a marathon inside a shopping mall. The runners ran through the mall and then finished by freezing in place just before the finish line, which was cleverly chosen to be right in front of the retail chain Finish Line.
