DC Defenestrators, the Washington DC group from the Urban Prankster Network, just posted a video of a mission from last summer. In it they play an oversized game of Risk on the Navy Memorial world map in DC.

There are a couple of cool events happening Saturday.

The first was sent to us by our friends at Newmindspace.

Zombie Unicorn presents (with a little help from Newmindspace): NYC GREAT BIG WHEEL RACE 2008!

Bring your big wheel, trike, skateboard, velocipede, or handmade contraption on wheels along with your superhero costume to race down the Great Hill in Central Park against the greatest big wheelers in town.

You’ll need a helmet and other protective gear. Your vehicle’s seat must, at its lowest point, be lower than 12 inches. That’s low. Wheel size is open. Rubber wheels are strongly discouraged.

Free registration for racing: e-mail flopaint (at) gmail.com. Spectators more than welcome. Standard big wheels are available at indy toy stores & big box retail stores and odder wheeled units are probably available on trash day on your corner.

Meet up at Central Park Drive at 103rd St. on the East side. We’ll take a walk through and then the main event.

Prizes for most original vehicle, costume and 4th place finisher.

Back in July we told you about Mark Jenkins’ Golden Ass project where he tricked folks into thinking his gold horse sculpture was a human statue. Jenkins’ latest work was a collaboration with Green Peace. He put several “Homeless Polar Bears” in public places around Washington DC.

Jenkins told Boing Boing:

We made a series of human-like homeless polar bears and installed them around DC to get people to think about the issue (of melting arctic ice) with more empathy. it seemed people liked them a lot and took pictures of their kids in front of them, etc. but most were removed pretty quickly by the authorities. the last image is one that was met with ill-fate after being deemed a “suspicious package.” so the whole thing ended up have a touch of irony to it when compared to the actual situation.

The DC Defenestrators staged a concert on the mall in Washington DC using rock band instruments.

They write:

After we set up a giant crowd had gathered waiting for us to start. With a 1 – 2 – 1, 2, 3, 4 the click-fest began and the crowd let out a nearly unanimous laugh – then cheer at us as we thumped and clicked away.
